Otosanai 落とさない

Never lose a credit to a deadline you didn't see.

単位を、締切で落とさない。

Otosanai is an AI assistant for university students in Japan. It reads your LMS every day, warns you before deadlines and attendance checks close, and turns lecture materials into exam notes.

Why I built it

I'm a fourth-year university student in Tokyo. I've lost credits before, not because I skipped the work, but because of tests and assignments on the LMS that I never saw.

This September, a survey opened for the last 30 minutes of a class I missed and closed when the class ended. Teachers send class cancellations and online-only notices as LMS messages, and in my case none of them were forwarded to email.

Missing one of these costs a grade you can't win back in the final exam. Otosanai is the assistant I built so it doesn't happen again.

A school day with Otosanai

  1. 06:15

    Morning brief

Today's classes and rooms, what's due and when it opens, and how many absences you have left in each course.

  2. During class

    In-class watch

Checks the course page every few minutes for surveys and quizzes that open and close inside the class period.

  3. 18:30

    After-class check

New messages from teachers, new materials, and whether today's attendance was actually recorded.

  4. 20:45

    Study notes

Reads the day's materials and messages and updates an exam-prep note for every course.

  5. 60, 30, 10 min before

    Deadline countdown

A LINE message for every open deadline, grouped so one deadline never sends more than three.

Where it is now

Running every day since September 2026 for one student, its founder, across 13 courses on the university's LMS.

Next: let other students connect their own accounts, starting with classmates at the same university.

Built with Claude

The whole system, from the LMS readers and schedulers to the notification worker, was written with Claude Code.

Next, the reading step, which covers teacher messages, lecture PDFs and exam notes, moves to the Claude API so it can run for every student.
